Getting to Wrangell by air is straightforward with two daily commercial flights. Alaska Airlines provides regular service to Wrangell from Seattle and Anchorage, as well as connections from Juneau, Petersburg, and Ketchikan. If you’re looking for local air travel options, Sunrise Aviation offers air charter services to and from other Southeast Alaska communities. Additionally, several small charter plane services from nearby towns provide transportation to Wrangell and surrounding islands.

Wrangell is also accessible by the Alaska Marine Highway System, which provides ferry service throughout Southeast Alaska. Whether you’re traveling with your vehicle or on foot, the ferry is a scenic and relaxing way to arrive in Wrangell. The ferry terminal is conveniently located near the town center, making it easy to start your Wrangell adventure as soon as you disembark.
The ferry often arrives late at night or very early in the morning. Confirm your pickup with your hosts before you sail.
ONCE YOU’RE HERE
Getting around and exploring the nearby islands and waterways is made easy with local water taxis and charter operators. These services offer transportation to remote locations, nearby towns, and popular attractions like the Anan Wildlife Observatory and LeConte Glacier. Flying in, the same jet stops at Petersburg and Ketchikan. Check the routing when you book — it is part of the trip.
Coming with a vehicle? Rental cars stay on paved in-town roads, so bringing your own on the ferry is the way to reach the forest roads.
