TOTEM PARK

The original site of the Kiks.adi clan’s sun house

Kiks. ádi Totem Park, located downtown on the way to Chief Shakes Tribal House, was originally raised in 1895 to honor Chief Kahlteen of the Kiks.ádi Clan. In 1987, the park was purchased by Sealaska from the Alaska Pulp Corporation and rededicated. The park was officially transferred from Sealaska to the Wrangell Cooperative Association, Wrangell’s tribal government, in 2018.

Join a tour with a local tribe member to learn the stories behind the totems and appreciate the rich history & heritage of Wrangell.
